about

No one can deny that the start of the 2020s have seen some dark days, but few have been able to channel it in songwriting as gracefully as The Bishop Boys. Acoustic guitars, strings, and lush harmonies set a bittersweet scene that speaks not only of pandemic life (livestreams and emojis included), but also takes inspiration from the Black Lives Matter protests and George Floyd's final words. Dreamy, driving, wistful, and nostalgic, "Dark Days" creates stunning parallels between social isolation and spacious reverbs, and powerful moments of human connection with unison vocals and shared solos.

lyrics

Maybe we could start a balcony band
Sing from the rooftops, I’m your no hand man
Oh, the dark days
Come a long way

Front lines and fences; it’s a no-man’s land
God bless the super hero medicine man
Oh the dark days
Come a long way

Sometimes we need to get lost
To find our way
Don’t talk all day
Don’t talk slow
I’m dying to know

Live-streamed and lonely; oh, it’s something to see
Heart-eyed smiles through computer screens
Oh, the dark days
Come a long way

Driving in the dark got nowhere to be
Riots in the streets and now I can’t breathe
Oh, the dark days
Will we ever come a long way?

Sometimes we need to get lost To find our way
Don’t talk all day
Don’t talk slow
I’m dying to know
I’m dying to know

New York City standstill
Minnesota mess
Detroit city’s dying
All over again

Sometimes we need to get lost
To find our way
Don’t talk all day
Don’t talk slow
I’m dying to know
